Weekend in Tampa!

Updated: Sep 1, 2020

Welcome to my first travel blog post! A little bit about me, I love to travel and do weekend trips! Hopefully, you get some great travel ideas for your next vacation! This week's topic is a weekend in Tampa!

When you think of Florida, what comes to mind? Likely you think of Disney World in Orlando. Well, not this time! If you're like me you don't want to have that cliche family vacation, you're looking for something new and exciting! It can be frustrating planning a trip so we will do that part for you!

Depending on where you are you may be able to get a cheap flight to Tampa Florida. It might sound crazy but I do recommend spirit airlines! Yes, if you don't mind uncomfortable seats for a few hours then you'll thoroughly enjoy spirit airlines. I'd give it a 3.5/5!

What To Do In Tampa?

When planning this trip I had no idea what Tampa even had, or been there! So if you're like me hold your horses! There is actually a lot of fun things to do! First, I recommend getting yourself a city pass.

You get admission to the top 5 tampa attractions for a fraction of the price. You get into Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, The Florida Aquarium, ZooTampa, Clearwater Marine Aquarium or Chihuly Collection, and Museum of Science & Industry OR The Tropics Boat Tours. It's well worth it considering that it's $119.00 [at the time of this article being written] and if you purchased admission for each attraction it would be well over $250 dollars!

Note: Most addmission for children under 2 is FREE! So save your pennies!

Day 1.

Straight after work, we hit the airport arriving at 9:00 pm at night! My friend and I had rented out an Airbnb in Tampa in an RV park. I personally never stayed in an RV prior to this trip. If you wanted to stay in a "Unique" place follow this link here and get $55 off your first stay!

Which was awesome. but it was a little awkward at first because it was valentines day and the owner had left some heart choclate in the room! Haha! To be honest, though the choclate was really good that was a plus. Anywho, the place was great if your curious to find out the place I have a link here.

Day 2.

We went to the clearwater marine aquarium where winter from the movie Dolphin Tale lives. It was nice but I personally felt it was more geared toward children under 12. It definitely had something there for adults too keep you entertained for a good 1-2 hour(s).

I'm still trying to find out where I can apply for this job!

Then the rest of the day we did our own thing driving around going to eat enjoying the weather! I never knew this but Tampa is definitely an ideal place to begin shooting a music video, which we did!

Of course, not the final product but still makes for a cool preview!

Day 3.

By far my favorite is Busch Gardens! It's a healthy mixture of rides nature attractions and even ice shows that are somewhat reminiscent of cruise shows! Without a doubt, this is definitely a great place to be overall and earns a 5/5 from me for its great family atmosphere!

These penguins are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo adorable I WANT ONE!

I love it here! :)

Day 4. :(

Yes... the day we all dread... the last day of vacation! We pack everything and leave out of the place at 11:40... we overslept! Anywho the final place we go to before our plane ride is ZooTampa I personally thought it would be like Busch Gardens but I can say it definitely had its high standalone points as well. My rating was a 4/5, to be honest though, if we went there first I'd probably give it a 5/5. There was a water park that we didn't even touch and we were definitely rushing because we had to be back for the plane. Nevertheless, I did really enjoy it and would like more time to visit it more thoroughly! but that is a blog for another time!

If you are looking for a great time and some vacation ideas I highly recommend Tampa, Florida! Getting their city pass will allow you to visit some great attractions for a single price! Trust me you will have fun! If you have any questions about my trip that I didn't cover send me a tweet @mayoandketchup and be sure to follow my vacation photos and videos on Instagram!
